MSc Forest and Nature Conservation
The MSC programme Forest- and Nature Conservation aims for an understanding, management and policy of forest- and nature areas of all climate zones, including the tropics. Forest- and nature areas are complex landuse types which are under growing ecological, sociological and economical pressure. On a local scale, the exhaustion of natural resources, changes in hydrology and other abiotic conditions, and differing opinions of stakeholders are important for sustainability. On a global scale, climate change, deforestation, degradation of natural resources, demands for biodiversity and ecotourism are of importance. It will be a big challenge to keep the economic value of forest and nature areas while making sure ecosystemservices continue to be provided. Therefore, it is important to increase our understanding of the functioning and processes of forest- and nature areas so we can continue to use and conserve them in a sustainable manner.
