Bachelor Bos- en natuurbeheer

De BSc Bos- en natuurbeheer leert je hoe bos- en natuurgebieden in elkaar zitten en hoe je ze moet beheren. Ook leer je hoe je beleid moet maken voor dergelijke gebieden, zodat je na je studie een bijdrage kunt leveren aan het onderzoek, onderhoud en beheer van natuur op aarde. Die natuur kan natuur in Nederland zijn, maar ook een toendra in Afrika of een tropisch woud in Indonesie. Wil jij weten wat het effect van klimaatverandering is op natuur? Wil jij weten hoe je verlies aan biodiversiteit kunt vorkomen? Wil jij weten hoe je een bijdrage kunt leveren aan duurzame houtproduktie en aan duurzaam ecotoerisme? Deze opleiding zorgt dat je een mooie wetenschappelijke en avontuurlijke uitdaging aan kunt gaan! De opleiding heeft drie specialisaties: Beleid (beleid en de maatschappelijke aspecten van bos- en natuurbeheer), Beheer (optimaal beheer van alle gebieden, planten en dieren) en Ecologie (functioneren van ecosystemen, planten en dieren)

Master Forest and Nature Conservation

The MSc programme Forest and Nature Conservation aims at the understanding, management and policy for forest and nature areas within all climatic zones, including the tropics. Forest and nature areas are complex land use systems under increasing ecological, social and economic pressure. On a local level, exploitation of biological resources changes in hydrological and other environmental conditions and different stakeholder interests, affect the sustainability. On a global level, sustainability is affected by climate change, deforestation, resource degradation and the demand for biodiversity and ecotourism. It will be a major challenge to maintain the economic viability of forest and nature areas, while at the same time ensuring that it provides the non-market goods and services that are increasingly in demand. Therefore we will need to increase our understanding on functioning and processes in forest and nature areas, so that they can be utilized and conserved in a sustainable manner.
